Pivot™

Pivot® Wine Preservation System

What is the Pivot® Wine Preservation System?

The Pivot Wine Preservation System is an exciting new wine preservation option that allows you to extend the life of your everyday wines.  For bottles you expect to finish over the course of days or weeks, the ingenious combination of the Pivot Stopper and the Device keeps the remaining wine fresh for up to 4 weeks ensuring the last glass is just as amazing as the first.

The Pivot System is easy to use and works with any still wine regardless of closure type: natural cork, synthetic, glass, or screwcap. Simply open the bottle and immediately insert the Pivot Stopper. Pour a glass of Cabernet at the end of a long day or pair your favorite Riesling with Tuesday night takeout. The choice is yours.

How is the Pivot System different from other Coravin Systems?

All Coravin Systems deliver the opportunity for you to enjoy your wine the way you want to versus having to commit to the bottle. The key differences between the Pivot System and other Coravin Systems are how each works and the length of preservation each provides.

With the Pivot System, you open the bottle and replace the original closure with the specially designed Pivot Stopper. The Pivot Device is then inserted through the Stopper to pour. The Pivot System works with any bottle of still wine regardless of closure type. Because the bottle has been opened, wine will remain fresh up to 4 weeks. For most everyday wines, this is plenty of time to finish the bottle, knowing your last glass will taste as fresh as the first. The Pivot System provides best-in-class preservation for under $100. All other Coravin Systems feature a Needle that is inserted through the natural cork, extracting the wine without opening the bottle. Because the bottle remains sealed, the remaining wine is preserved for years, continuing to age in bottle as the winemaker intended. For screw cap wines, these Systems can be used with the Coravin Screw Cap accessory and preserved for three months. These models are perfect for pouring special bottles, tasting bottles as they mature, or expanding your at-home wine-by-the-glass menu without worrying about when you will finish the bottle.

How is the Pivot System different from other wine preservation systems?

Many other systems work by removing air that has already entered the bottle, which will only preserve wine for a few days. If used correctly the Pivot will preserve wine appearance, aroma, and flavor for up to 4 weeks. It delivers the best-in-class short-term wine preservation in the market for under $100.

How Pivot Works

How to Use Pivot™

How does the Pivot System work?

It’s easy! Open – Insert – Tip – Pour

Open the bottle of wine by removing the cork with a corkscrew or by unscrewing the cap.

Immediately replace the cork or screwcap with the Pivot Stopper ensuring that the Stopper cap is open and that the Stopper and the neck of the bottle are both dry.

To pour, insert the Pivot Device through the Stopper until it clicks into place.

Tilt the bottle so the spout is over the wine glass then press and hold the button on the Device.

When finished, release the button and wait for the wine to stop pouring from the spout.

Bring the bottle upright and remove the Device by pulling straight up and off. Immediately close the Stopper cap.

What testing have you done to prove the Pivot System works?

All Coravin products undergo a robust series of internal and external testing to ensure performance. This includes testing across a variety of wine types as well as different storage temperatures and positions. To determine preservation performance, we conduct blind taste tests between “accessed” bottles and new control bottles from the same case of wine at various time intervals. Through this testing, we have repeatedly proven that the Pivot System effectively preserves wines up to 4 weeks based on proper usage and storage conditions.

In addition to our internal testing, we are proud to work with leading wine industry professionals to test our products in their homes and provide feedback. In this way, we have confirmed our lab results with real world performance.

About the Pivot Stopper

Why does the Stopper need to be dry before using?

The Stopper needs to be dry before using to ensure a tight seal inside the neck of the bottle.  Ensure the Silicone Rings and the inside of the bottle are completely dry before inserting.

Can the Pivot Stopper be reused?

Once you finish the bottle, remove the Stopper. Clean the Stopper by rinsing it in a steady stream of warm water for several seconds. Shake excess water from the Stopper cap. Dry with a soft cloth. Ensure the Silicone Rings on the Stopper are completely dry before inserting into a new bottle

The Stopper will last for up to 1 year.

How many uses should I get from the Pivot Stopper?

There is no maximum amount of uses. You should easily get years of service from your Pivot Stopper. However, like all Silicone Seals, eventually it may wear out and not seal as well. Then it is time to replace your stopper.

Wine Types and Preservation

How long does the wine last when using the Pivot?

Many factors impact wine preservation, including temperature, exposure to light, and the type of wine, as some are more delicate than others. If used properly and with proper storage, the Pivot System can preserve wine appearance, aroma, and flavor for up to 4 weeks.

What types of wine/wine bottles work with the Pivot?

The Pivot System is compatible with all still wine closure types and bottle shapes. It has been tested on standard 750 ml and 1.5L, (Magnum), bottles. It is not designed to work with larger format bottles.

Does the Pivot System work with Champagne or sparkling wines?

No. The Pivot System is designed to work with still wines only.

How do I store my wine after pouring with the Pivot System?

After pouring, remove the Pivot Device from the wine bottle and immediately close the Stopper cap. Store the bottle horizontally in a temperature-controlled environment suitable for wine, like a refrigerator or a wine cooler.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the wine is not properly stored it can have impact on preservation results.

Is the Pivot System covered under warranty?

We will, at our option, repair or replace any device that fails to comply with this warranty under normal use and following care instructions.
